Wah Loong Food Limited, trading as Wah Loong Restaurant, is seeking experienced and skilled Traditional Chinese Cuisine Chefs to join our team at our Lower Hutt restaurant.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and enhance our current food offerings by introducing signature Chinese dishes that highlight regional diversity and elevate the in-dining experience.
  • Using innovative cooking techniques, create and present traditional Chinese dishes with fresh and authentic ingredients.
  •   Develop seasonal specials and new recipes that reflect modern dining trends while preserving the authenticity of Chinese culinary traditions.
  •  Ensure every dish delivered is of the highest quality in taste, aroma, and presentation, enhancing the overall dining experience.
  •  Lead, train, and inspire kitchen staff in Chinese food preparation, wok skills, dim sum craftsmanship, and cooking techniques, ensuring consistency and food safety compliance.
  • Oversee ordering, inventory, and stock control of key Chinese ingredients (such as sauces, spices, and specialty produce) to ensure efficiency and minimise waste.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and efficiency in the kitchen while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards.
  • Work closely with the management team to align menu offerings with the restaurant’s vision and customer expectations.

Job Requirements:

  • A relevant level 4 vocational qualification in culinary arts or at least two years of experience working as a chef.
  • Experience as a chef specialising in Chinese Cuisine would be preferred.
  • A creative mindset with a passion for crafting exceptional dishes that leave a lasting impression.
  • Excellent time management skills and strong work ethic.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
