We are a well-established Indian restaurant located in Silverdale, Auckland, offering authentic Indian cuisine to a loyal and growing customer base. Due to increasing demand and continued business growth, we are seeking two dedicated full-time Tandoor/Curry Chefs to join our kitchen team.

This is a permanent, full-time position offering a minimum of 30 hours per week, rostered across 6 days, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays. The role offers an hourly wage of $27 to $31, depending on experience and skill level, and requires flexibility, a strong commitment to food quality, and strict adherence to hygiene and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

·           - Plan, prepare, and develop authentic Indian dishes, including a variety of Tandoor and Curry items, in accordance with customer preferences and seasonal availability.

·          - Plan menus, estimate food and labour costs, and manage stock levels to ensure efficient kitchen operations.

·          - Order food supplies, check deliveries for quality and quantity, and maintain relationships with suppliers.

·          - Cook and present dishes to a consistently high standard, ensuring portion control, taste, and presentation meet restaurant quality standards.

·          - Monitor food preparation, cooking, and service to ensure compliance with hygiene, safety, and quality standards.

·          - Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide guidance to kitchen and support staff where required.

·          - Collaborate with management and front-of-house staff to coordinate menu offerings and service timing.

·          - Maintain strict hygiene, sanitation, and food safety standards in compliance with New Zealand regulations.

·          - Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen team members to maintain a skilled and efficient workforce.

·         -  Ensure proper storage, freezing, and preservation of ingredients and prepared items in line with food safety protocols.

·          - Support consistency and smooth operation during busy service periods through effective teamwork and time management.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

·          - Minimum 3 years of verifiable relevant experience or

·          - A relevant Level 4 (or higher) qualification in cookery or hospitality management.

·          - Specialisation in Indian cuisine, particularly Tandoor or Curry preparation, is preferred

·          - Good communication skills and the ability to follow kitchen systems and processes

·          - Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing may be required

·          - Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand
