Position: Chef (Indian & Kebabs Cuisine)

Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week – Maximum 45 hours per week


About the Role

We are looking for three skilled Indian & Kebabs Cuisine Chef to join our team in Dunedin. The ideal candidates will have hands-on experience in preparing authentic Indian dishes, including Tandoori items, curries, and kebabs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook authentic Indian and Tandoori dishes for customers.
  • Cook traditional Doner kebab meats and dishes following in-house recipes.
  • Measure, mix, season, and prepare ingredients according to recipe standards.
  • Prepare gravies, sauces, and marinades as required.
  • Operate and maintain cooking equipment, including tandoor ovens.
  • Prepare meals for customers with special dietary requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety.
  • Follow all workplace health and safety procedures.
  • Ensure meals are consistently prepared and presented to standard.
  • Train and assist other kitchen staff when needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Indian & kebabs cuisine cooking (curries, kebabs, and tandoori).
  • Alternatively, Work experience in similar ethnic food for 2 years or  relevant Level 2 or 3 culinary qualification.
  • Proven skills in marination, spice blending, and preparation of Indian breads.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small, busy team.
  • Must be available to work weekends, public holidays, and split shifts.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and manage time effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of Indian curry and tandoori preparation will be an advantage.
