We are seeking skilled and passionate Chefs or Cooks to join our team in Mangawhai Heads, Northland. The ideal candidate will have strong culinary expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining consistency and excellence in every dish prepared.

Key Responsibilities-

  • Creating menu items, recipes, and developing dishes, ensuring variety and quality
  • Prepare and cook high-quality Indian dishes following authentic recipes and presentation standards.
  • Maintain inventory and order supplies to ensure the kitchen is well-stocked.
  • Operate and maintain the tandoor to prepare traditional Indian breads and tandoori dishes, ensuring optimal cooking temperature and authentic flavour.
  • Ensure consistency in preparing all food items according to the establishment's recipe and standards.
  • Estimating food cost.
  • Consistently monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
  • Train and supervise other kitchen staff (as per the requirement)
  • Examining the quality of food before it is delivered to the customer.
  • Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment
  • Portioning food and presenting it on plates
  • Work collaboratively with the front-of-house team to ensure timely and efficient service.
  • Other relevant duties required to meet the requirements of the role.

Required to work for a minimum of 30 hours per week, and you will be paid between $25 - $35 per hour

Other Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience or a Level 3 qualification or above.
  • Availability to work on weekends, late evenings, and public holidays.
  • Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to train and manage kitchen staff effectively.
  • Sound knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen hygiene practices.
