Shirl's Takeaways is currently seeking reliable and full-time Cooks to join our team. The starting pay offered is $25-$30 hourly and will be fixed according to the skills and experience for at least 30 to 50 hours a week. However, this will be reviewed periodically. Any overtime will be paid as per the above pay rate. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of related tasks, including:

Cooking and Preparation:
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, with a focus on both grill items and Asian-inspired offerings. - Ensure all dishes are prepared to high standards and follow established recipes and guidelines.

Menu Development and Innovation:
- Contribute ideas for new dishes, ingredients, and cooking techniques to enhance the menu.
- Assist in refining existing dishes, particularly those involving Asian cuisine and popular diner staples like burgers and deep-fried specials.

Training and Mentoring:
- Learn and master cooking techniques and presentation under the guidance of senior chefs.
- Assist general kitchen staff in developing their skills and improving workflow efficiency.

Quality Control:
- Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure every dish meets customer expectations.
- Ensure consistency in taste and adherence to portion sizes and established recipes.

Customer Service:
- Address customer inquiries and special requests with professionalism, including dietary preferences and special orders.Collaborate with the front-of-house team to deliver an
exceptional dining experience.

Food Safety and Sanitation:
Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment by upholding food safety and sanitation
standards. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.

 

Job pre-requisites:

  • Must be available to work on a roster seven days a week. Flexibility to work holidays as needed.
  • At least one year of relevant experience in the commercial kitchen is a must.
  • Proved knowledge of cooking Asian cuisine, such as relevant work experience, on-the- job training, or occupational credentials.
  • Must possess a keen eye for detail and a hard-working attitude.
  • Physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must maintain personal cleanliness to ensure high standards of hygiene.
  • The successful candidate must pass a police check and drug test.
