Cooks
Cinnamon Club Ltd. is a well-known operator of Indian restaurants in the Bay of Plenty region. We are looking for skilledcooks to join our busy team.
As cook, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
• Check the quality, freshness and condition of ingredients before preparation.
• Set up and operate cooking equipment such as ovens, grills, fryers and stovetops, ensuring correct temperatures are maintained.
• Prepare ingredients (washing, cutting, measuring, portioning) for service according to the menu or production plan.
• Cook a range of dishes using standard recipes and established methods.
• Adjust flavours and seasoning during cooking to ensure consistency and taste.
• Plate meals in line with the restaurant’s presentation standards, including adding sauces, gravies and simple garnishes.
• Prepare meals for customers with special dietary needs when required (e.g., vegetarian, gluten-free, mild spice, etc.).
• Store raw and cooked food safely, including rotating stock and maintaining correct storage temperatures.
• Clean and maintain work areas, utensils and equipment to meet food-hygiene requirements.
• Monitor stock levels of ingredients and inform the supervisor when supplies need replenishment.
• Follow all food-safety, allergen-management and health-and-safety procedures.
• Assist senior kitchen staff by carrying out prep tasks and basic cooking duties as directed.
• Contribute to routine tasks such as portion control, waste reduction and maintaining kitchen organisation
• May assist with basic input into menu planning and estimating ingredient quantities when requested by the head chef or supervisor (but not hold primary responsibility for menu creation).
Requirements:
➢ 2+ years’ relevant experience or a relevant tertiary qualification (level 4 or higher)
➢ Good knowledge of Indian cuisine, including knowledge of menus, ingredients, spices, equipment and other supplies (will be tested at interview)
➢ Good knowledge of Indian cooking methods, including knowledge of regional differences (will be tested at interview)
➢ Willing to work evenings and weekends
Pay Rate:
$27 to $30 per hour (depending on experience).
Hours:
As these are full-time positions, you will be guaranteed a minimum 30 hours per week but will likely be required to work approximately 40 hours per week, Monday to Sunday
