About Us:

Noki Café in Christchurch is a busy café open seven days a week. From early 2026, we are expanding to include dinner service, and we are seeking an experienced Chef to manage our kitchen and deliver exceptional dining experiences.

 

Hours: Minimum 35 hours and Maximum 40 hours per week, rostered across 7 days (Monday to Sunday, including public holidays)

Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Plan, design, and update menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner services.

• Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff, ensuring smooth operations.

• Prepare and cook high-quality dishes, maintaining consistency and presentation standards.

• Monitor food quality, portion control, and timely service.

• Manage stock levels, ordering, and cost control to meet budget targets.

• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations.

• Train and mentor kitchen team members to maintain high standards.

• Oversee kitchen cleanliness and equipment maintenance.

What We’re Looking For:

• At least one year of experience as a Chef in a café or restaurant hospitality area OR Relevant Diploma qualification or higher

• Must be able to work from 6 am until late at night (depending on a roster)

• Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills.

• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

• Creativity and passion for food, with knowledge of diverse cuisines.
