We are looking for a Chef (4 positions) to join our team in Wellington. You guarantee a minimum of 30 hours per week with competitive rates between $29.66 and $31p/h depending on your skills.

You will be working as per the roster hence flexibility is essential in this role.
Track record of reliability and consistent performance essential.

Applicants must have at least 3 years’ experience or relevant qualification for this job role.
The successful applicant will have great training and support from an experienced
management team.

What you will be doing day-to-day:

> Responsible for the preparation and cooking of food items according to approved specifications and recipes, ensuring food is prepared on time and within designated schedules.
> Check all materials and foodstuffs, ensuring they are used before spoilage.
> Keep all food preparation areas clean at all times.
> Supervise tasks performed by assistants and other workers in the designated section.
> Maintain efficient sanitation services, garbage disposal, and chilling systems in compliance with regulations and requirements.
> Ensure machinery is operated, cleaned, and stored correctly; kitchen drawers and shelves
are kept clean and tidy, with regular inspections and timely corrections.
> Compile reports and documents as required.
> Clearly communicate hygiene rules, emphasizing personal responsibility, and regularly
train/remind staff to uphold standards.
> Manage the freezing and preserving of foods to ensure quality and safety.

Essential skills and attributes required:


> Experience working in a bulk cooking environment is highly desirable
> Experience working in a food manufacturing department is preferable but not
essential
> Willingness to learn and be upward moving is essential.
> Excellent cookery skills
> Naturally enjoys being around people and contributing to a positive work
environment.
> Efficient, accurate and a strong appreciation for following systems
> Consistent performance no matter the pressure from guests, team, and outside
influences
> Good communication skills both verbal and written
> Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
