Brazooka BBQ Brazil Restaurant is a dynamic and popular restaurant located in Papanui area, Christchurch. We are offering a unique opportunity to be part of the enjoyable and fun work environment. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Grill Chef to join our kitchen team. This role is crucial to our operation, focusing on the preparation and cooking of high-quality grilled meats.

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent, Hours Minimum 32 hours per week
Pay Rate: NZD $32.00 - $35.00 per hour depending on candidate experience/performance.
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following key tasks:
• Grill Operation: Regulating and control the temperatures of grills, charcoal-grill, and other cooking equipment to ensure optimal cooking conditions.
• Food Preparation: Preparing meats, cut and trimming meats make the marinades and cooking grilled meats at the charcoal BBQ and vegetables according to established recipes and quality standards.
• Quality Control: Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality and freshness, and ensuring all dishes meet the restaurant's presentation and taste standards.
• Stock Management: Monitoring stock levels of grill-related ingredients and supplies, and assisting with ordering and inventory control.
• Hygiene and Safety: Maintaining a clean and hygienic work area, adhering strictly to all food safety and health regulations (HACCP).
• Teamwork: Assisting other chefs and kitchen staff during peak service times and contributing to a positive and efficient kitchen environment.
• Menu Input: Contributing to the development and improvement of grill-focused menu items.
Minimum Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
1 Experience: At least three (3) years of relevant work experience as a Grill Chef in a commercial kitchen environment. OR a relevant qualification (NZQF Level 4 or higher) in Commercial Cookery in a related field.
2 Skills: Proven ability to operate and maintain commercial grilling equipment, management skill and be able to management the passadores (Meat waiters).
3 Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards and preferably having a reasonable amount of knowledge in Brazilian Cuisine and Brazilian BBQ as well as Brazilian meat cuts.
4 Work Ethic: Honest reliable and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
5 Communication: Good command of English to communicate effectively with the kitchen team.
