Madur Limited, known for delivering quality services, is seeking a Commis Chef to join its team in Waipiata, Otago. The ideal candidate must be skilled, reliable, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Key Duties- 
• Assist management/senior chefs in menu planning and updates, incorporating seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes while maintaining consistent taste, quality, and presentation.
• Support all stages of food preparation, cooking, and plating to uphold high culinary standards.
• Monitor kitchen inventory, manage food usage efficiently, and minimise waste.
• Maintain accurate portion control and ensure dishes are presented professionally.
• Assist in training and guiding kitchen staff to support smooth and efficient operations.
• Check, maintain, and operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively.
• Follow proper food storage, labelling, and rotation practices to meet food safety and hygiene requirements.
• Communicate with management to resolve operational issues and ensure seamless daily kitchen functioning.
• Perform other relevant duties necessary for efficient kitchen operations.
• If required, serve customers in the restaurant to support overall service delivery.

Required to work for a minimum of 30 hours per week and will be paid between $25-$30 per hour.

Other Requirements:
• Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience or at least a relevant Level 4 qualification.
• Availability to work on weekends and late evenings as required.
• Physically fit and capable of standing for extended periods.
• Able to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and coordination skills.
• Ability to support and guide junior kitchen staff when required.
• Good understanding of food safety regulations and kitchen hygiene standards.
