We are a busy café located in the heart of Takapuna, Auckland, looking for two talented and dedicated chefs to join our kitchen team. This is an exciting opportunity for chefs who are passionate about great food, work well under pressure, and thrive in a fast-paced café environment.
The working hours will be a minimum of 30 hours per week, we offer an hourly rate of $25.00 to $35.00 for the right candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and cook menu items according to café recipes and presentation standards
• Plan and develop seasonal menus with consideration for cost, availability of ingredients, and customer appeal
• Monitor food quality at all stages of preparation and presentation to ensure consistency and high standards
• Participate in estimating food and labour requirements to support efficient kitchen operation and cost management
• Manage inventory, conduct regular stocktakes, and order supplies as needed
• Ensure proper storage of food and ingredients in accordance with food safety regulations
• Train and supervise junior kitchen staff to uphold kitchen standards and support daily operations
• Follow the Food Control Plan at all times and maintain a clean, compliant kitchen environment
• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety policies, identify and minimise risks, and support a safe working environment for all staff
What We’re Looking For:
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a chef, preferably in a café or similar setting
• Alternatively hold a cookery qualification at NZQF level 4 or higher
• Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays
• Reliable, hardworking, and detail-oriented
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Passion for quality food and excellent customer service
