We are looking for a qualified commis chef to join our team. This is a permanent full-time role with guaranteed 30 hours per week in our busy kitchen.
The Commis Chef supports the kitchen team in delivering high-quality dishes in accordance with the hotel’s standards. This role involves assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, and ensuring that all food is prepared safely and efficiently.
Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist chefs in preparing, cooking, and presenting menu items according to recipes and standards.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen and food preparation areas.
- Ensure food is stored, handled, and prepared safely in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Assist with stock rotation and report any shortages to senior chefs.
- Follow instructions from the Head Chef or Sous Chef to ensure efficient service.
- Support in receiving and checking deliveries and maintaining appropriate storage.
- Contribute to maintaining a positive, professional, and safe working environment.
- Take part in training and development opportunities as required.
To be qualified for this role, you need to demonstrate:
- Two-year experience in a functional kitchen, or a tertiary qualification in cookery or culinary arts
- Passion for food and hospitality
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills and teamwork skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to health and safety.
