NZD $24.00 – $24.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience
Job Description:
Ashley Hotel Greymouth is seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to join our kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals for hotel guests, conference groups, and restaurant patrons while maintaining excellent food safety and hygiene standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare, cook, and present meals according to the hotel’s menu and standards
• Assist in menu planning, portion control, and cost management
• Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and storage areas
• Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and minimise food wastage
• Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house teams
• Train and supervise junior kitchen staff as required
• Ensure consistency, quality, and timely service during busy periods
• Follow all health & safety policies and company procedures
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience Required:
• Minimum 3 years relevant work experience as a Chef, OR
• A recognised qualification at NZQF Level 4 or higher in Cookery or Hospitality
Additional Requirements:
• Strong knowledge of commercial kitchen operations
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Good time management and organisational skills
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and public holidays
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
