Key Tasks and Responsibilities: 

  • Plan and organize the preparation and cooking of a variety of traditional Vietnamese dishes

  • Assists in the planning of menus and determining food quantities and costs

  • Ensure food quality, presentation and consistency to meet required standards

  • Manages and trains Cooks and Kitchenhands in food preparation, cooking techniques and food safety

  • Oversee kitchen staff, ensuring efficient kitchen operations

  • Enforce and monitor all health, safety, and sanitation standards in the cafe, ensure all requirements are met and maintained

  • Assist with catering development

  • Work in collaboration with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service delivery

  • Orders and maintains inventory of food and kitchen supplies, ensuring it meets daily production needs

  • Collaborates with management to develop new dishes and improve existing recipes

  • Pay rate: Minimum $24/ hour   , Maximum $24/ hour 

    Guaranteed hours of work per week:  Minimum 35 hours, permanent full-time

    Requirements for the job:

    • At least 2 years of relevant work experience in preparing and cooking Vietnamese cuisine OR Diploma qualification or above 

    • Strong planning and organizational skills for managing food preparation and cooking processes

    • Knowledge and ability to plan and organize the preparation and cooking of food in a busy environment. 

    • Plan and add new menu items based on seasonality, customers’ preferences and feedback 

    • High standard of food safety and hygiene practices

    • Ability to manage kitchen operations and lead a team effectively 

    • Be physically fit

    • Full time availability, always available on weekends and public holidays

    • Able to do both of morning and evening shifts across a 7 days roster

    • Able to follow flexible weekly timetable

    • Reliable and having a positive attitude

    • Have good time management skills, be well organized and capable of multitasking

    • No criminal record

    • Candidates need to be NZ citizens/residents
