We are seeking an energetic and friendly individual to join our team and support the daily operations of our busy takeaway located in Hamilton.
At our establishment, we are committed to delivering high-quality service to our customers. We now have an exciting opportunity for a Cook who is ready to take on new challenges and become a valuable part of our dynamic kitchen team.

Our ideal candidate will:

Ø Prepare and cook a variety of Chinese and New Zealand takeaway dishes such as stir-fries, burgers, and fish and chips using commercial cooking methods including deep frying, wok cooking, grilling, and roasting.

Ø Ensure food quality, consistency, and presentation by accurately seasoning during cooking, portioning meals, and adding sauces or garnishes as required.

Ø Prepare meals to meet special dietary requirements, such as vegetarian, gluten-free, or allergy-sensitive orders.

Ø Monitor food stock levels, estimate ingredient requirements, receive and inspect deliveries, and store items correctly in temperature-controlled facilities.

Ø Plan and coordinate food preparation schedules, especially during busy periods, to ensure timely and efficient service.

Ø Operate and maintain kitchen equipment such as ovens, fryers, woks, and refrigeration units, ensuring all appliances are used safely and effectively.

Ø Maintain food safety and hygiene standards, including cleaning, safe food handling, and recording of temperature checks.

Ø Assist in menu development and staff training, incorporating customer feedback and supporting new staff in following kitchen procedures.

Requirements:

Ø A minimum of two years of full-time experience in a takeaway or similar commercial food service environment, OR a relevant NZQF qualification Level 2 or above in cookery, culinary arts, or a related field. 

Ø Proficient in wok cooking, deep-frying, and fast-paced order preparation. Familiarity with food handling, kitchen safety, and hygiene regulations as per NZ Food Act standards.

Ø Ability to multitask under pressure, especially during peak hours.

Ø Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
