In this role, you will play a key part in menu development, kitchen operations, and team leadership, with a strong focus on creating exceptional pastries and desserts while maintaining overall kitchen excellence.
Position Details
- Permanent, full-time role
- Minimum of 30 guaranteed hours per week
- Shifts are rostered between 5:30am and 10:30pm, Monday to Sunday; however, flexibility is required to work outside these hours occasionally to accommodate event booking
- Competitive hourly rate of $32.00 – $35.00, depending on skills and experience
Job Responsibilities:
· Manage all aspects of the kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, plating and presentation.
· Lead and manage the pastry and dessert section, creating, testing, and refining recipes and techniques.
· Plan, design, and update menus based on seasonal ingredients, customer preferences, and budget requirements.
· Ensure all dishes, particularly pastries and desserts, are produced to the highest standards of quality and consistency.
· Develop new recipes and maintain consistency in taste, portioning, and presentation.
· Consider dietary requirements and provide suitable alternatives where required.
· Estimate food and labour costs, manage budgets, and maintain food cost targets.
· Order supplies, check deliveries, and maintain accurate stock control.
· Ensure all food is correctly stored, labelled, frozen, and preserved as required.
· Monitor food quality at all stages of preparation, and approve and polish dishes before service.
· Maintain strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, health, and cleanliness standards.
· Ensure all food safety documentation is completed and kept up to date.
· Collaborate closely with other chefs, café/event managers, and front-of-house staff.
· Train, mentor, and motivate kitchen staff, promoting a positive and efficient team environment.
· Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide guidance on preparation and procedures.
· Support the wider kitchen team as required.
What We’re Looking For:
· Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Chef, with demonstrated pastry and dessert expertise
· Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
· Solid knowledge of various cooking techniques and a deep understanding of food safety regulations.
· Creativity and a strong attention to detail.
· A positive attitude and the ability to work well as part of a team.
