ABOUT US: Himalaya Indian cuisine is an Indian and Nepalese takeaway/restaurant located in107 Heath Street, Saint Andrews, Hamilton. At Himalaya Indian Cuisine, we strive to provide customers with the most authentic food complemented by traditional Indian atmosphere and elegant yet warm service. 

 We are looking for a tandoor and Indian/Nepalese curry chef. It would be great to hear from you if you are passionate about making delicious Indian and Nepali cuisine. 

Your Role
As a Chef, you will be responsible for:
● Preparing, cooking, seasoning, garnishing, and presenting dishes to a consistently high
standard
● Designing, planning, and pricing menus based on customer preferences, seasonal
availability, and cost efficiency
● Training, supervising, and managing kitchen staff, including involvement in hiring and
onboarding when required

● Inspecting the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure compliance with
health regulations, food safety standards, and food control plans
● Monitoring stock levels and placing orders as required to maintain efficient inventory
management
● Minimising food waste and managing food costs to support restaurant profitability
● Regulating and monitoring temperatures of the Tandoori oven and other kitchen
equipment, including proper freezing and food preservation techniques
● Maintaining kitchen cleanliness and ensuring full compliance with food safety and
hygiene regulations
● Monitoring inventory levels to ensure the freshness of ingredients and reduce wastage.

What We Are Looking For:
● Minimum 2 years of cooking experience in the hospitality industry
● Relevant culinary qualification is an advantage but not mandatory
● Strong culinary skills, including knife techniques and a solid understanding of cooking
methods
● Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while multitasking effectively
● Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required
