Due to ongoing growth, we are seeking an experienced Chef (Korean Cuisine) to join our professional kitchen team in Christchurch

This is a permanent, full-time position, with guaranteed minimum 30 hours per week, typically 30–45 hours, including evenings and weekends as required.

The Chef (Korean Cuisine) will be responsible for preparing and cooking authentic Korean dishes while maintaining Eden Alley’s quality, consistency, and food safety standards. This role requires proven experience in Korean cuisine, including traditional cooking methods, flavours, and kitchen practices.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, cook, and present authentic Korean dishes in accordance with Eden Alley’s menu and recipes
Apply traditional Korean cooking techniques, including preparation of soups, stews, BBQ items, side dishes (banchan), sauces, and marinades
Assist with Korean menu planning and development, including seasonal and special dishes
Ensure compliance with Food Control Plan requirements and NZ food safety standards
Monitor portion control, manage food costs, and minimise waste
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and kitchen organisation
Supervise and support junior kitchen staff during service when required
Check quality, freshness, and storage of ingredients, including Korean specialty products
Work collaboratively with management to ensure efficient kitchen operations during busy service periods

About You (Essential Requirements)

At least three years of relevant work experience as a Chef specialising in Korean cuisine
Demonstrated, hands-on experience in Korean cuisine is mandatory
Strong knowledge of Korean ingredients, flavours, and traditional cooking methods
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospitality environment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistent food quality
Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Flexible availability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
Able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week on a permanent basis
