Moxi Cafe in Ohope is seeking an experienced Demi Chef.
An experienced demi chef (with at least three years of relevant work experience) is required for a busy cafe in Ohope, Whakatane.
Moxi operates seven days a week for breakfast and lunch. The business requires a demi chef to help add experience and leadership to the kitchen.
The role will be between 30 and 40 hours per week, to be negotiated with the successful candidate. An hourly wage of $30.00 will be the successful applicant’s starting point.
The demi chef position is required to perform the following tasks within the kitchen / cafe:

Assist the lead chef and cafe management in the planning of the cafe menu(s) and determining food quantities and costs for each item.

Prepare and cook food according to cafe recipes or (if required) personal judgment and experience.

Monitor the food quality and presentation of menu items before being served to customers.

Assist the lead chef with the management and training of any cooks and kitchen hands in food preparation, cooking techniques and food safety.

Order and maintain an inventory of food and kitchen supplies, ensuring it meets daily production requirements and the restaurant is not going to run out.

Collaborate with the lead chef and restaurant management to develop new dishes and improve existing recipes / menu items.

Coordinate with the front-of-house staff to ensure efficient food service to meet customers’ needs.

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen / cafe.
