Mangawhai Tavern an iconic venue in the Kaipara District is seeking 2 experienced Chefs to support kitchen operations. Applicants must have at least 2 years of relevant experience in a commercial kitchen, a strong understanding of food safety & hygiene standards, demonstrate physical fitness & good character. Flexibility is essential, as the industry operates 24/7 throughout the year, including weekends, public holidays, & school holidays, in line with business needs. Minimum 30 hours/week. 5-6 days/week.
- Prepare and cook high-quality dishes within the assigned section
- Supervise and train junior chefs and kitchen staff
- Maintain portion control and consistency across all menu items.
- Keep food & labour costs to establishment requirements.
- Ensure all food is prepared, cooked, and presented in line with recipes and standards.
- Maintain cleanliness, order, and hygiene in the assigned section and storage areas.
- Follow and enforce all food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards.
- Ensure all equipment and work environments are operational
- Manage, rotate, and order stock and meet with Suppliers when needed.
Excellent communication skills, customer skills, motivational and leadership skills along with ability to give and receive instructions is a must.
