PapaViet is a charming Vietnamese restaurant located in the heart of Parnell, Auckland. We bring the essence of authentic Vietnamese cuisine with a modern twist, delivering fresh flavours and a memorable dining experience to our customers.

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Chef to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.

🔎 Position Details

Position: Chef
Location: 131 Parnell Road, Parnell, Auckland 1052
Employment Type: Full-time, permanent
Hours of Work: Minimum 30 hours and up to a maximum of 60 hours per week (rostered)
Pay Rate: $28.00 – $37.00 per hour (depending on skill/ experience and qualifications)

👨‍🍳 Key Responsibilities

  • Planning menus in consultation with management, including estimating food and labour costs and ordering food supplies

  • Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation

  • Discussing food preparation issues with Managers and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations

  • Demonstrating cooking techniques and advising on preparation and cooking procedures

  • Preparing and cooking dishes in accordance with recipes and presentation standards

  • Explaining and enforcing food safety and hygiene regulations

  • Assisting with staff selection and training where required

  • Freezing and preserving food in accordance with food safety standards

✅ Skills & Experience Required

Applicants must have:

  • At least two years of relevant work experience  OR A Level 4 or higher qualification in Cookery or a related field

  • Have at least one year experience in cooking Vietnamese cuisine

     

Applicants must be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment and maintain high food quality standards.
