Dawat Indian Restaurant, a busy and well-established Indian restaurant based in Auckland, is seeking a skilled and reliable Cook to join our kitchen team. This is a full-time, permanent position suited to a candidate with proven experience in commercial cookery, preferably in Indian cuisine.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook a wide range of Indian dishes in accordance with menu and quality standards

Plan food preparation and cooking tasks to ensure timely service

Follow standard recipes and presentation specifications

Check food quality before serving
- Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes; storing food in temperature controlled facilities
- Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment;

Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies

Ensure proper storage and handling of food products

Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen in line with food safety regulations

Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently

Work closely with other kitchen staff to coordinate food service
Job Requirements:
-
2 years of relevant work experience as a Cook, or a relevant Level 4 qualification (or higher)

Experience in Indian cuisine is preferred

Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Reliable, punctual, and able to work rostered shifts

Good teamwork and communication skills
