Dawat Indian Restaurant, a busy and well-established Indian restaurant based in Auckland, is seeking a skilled and reliable Cook  to join our kitchen team. This is a full-time, permanent position suited to a candidate with proven experience in commercial cookery, preferably in Indian cuisine.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook a wide range of Indian dishes in accordance with menu and quality standards

  • Plan food preparation and cooking tasks to ensure timely service

  • Follow standard recipes and presentation specifications

  • Check food quality before serving

  • Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes; storing food in temperature controlled facilities
  • Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment;
  • menu planning and development

  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies

  • Ensure proper storage and handling of food products

  • Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen in line with food safety regulations

  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently

  • Work closely with other kitchen staff to coordinate food service

Job Requirements:

  •  2 years of relevant work experience as a Cook, or a relevant Level 4 qualification (or higher) 

  • Experience in Indian cuisine is  preferred

  • Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work rostered shifts

  • Good teamwork and communication skills
