Hello Sushi (Tauriko), located in Tauranga Crossing mall (next to Pak'n Save), 2.5 hours away from Auckland, is looking for experienced cooks to lead the current team. We are looking for someone who wants to expand their career and take themselves to a new level.
The Cook is to perform the tasks of managing the daily operations of Hello Sushi kitchen, ensuring that the kitchen operates efficiently and profitably, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining the high standards of food, service, health, and safety. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to handle multiple roles, lead team members, and show a deep understanding of Japanese cuisine.

Sunday - Wednesday: AM 6:30 ~ PM 8:00
Thursday - Saturday: AM 6:30 ~ PM 9:00

Skills/experience required
To be considered for this role, you must meet one of the following:
- A Bachelor’s Degree (Level 7) in any field.
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience in professional environments such as cafes or restaurants.
- A relevant NZ Register Level 4 Qualification (or higher) specifically in professional cookery.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for planning, directing, and supervising the food preparation and cooking
activities in association with other Chefs and kitchen staff
- Prepare and cook all assortments of sushi, nigiri, sashimi and other a la carte Japanese
foods
- Prepare and cook food ingredients: raw fish, seafood, chicken, beef, vegetables and
others
- Make soup and sauces for sushi rice seasoning, teriyaki chicken, bulgogi, noodle and
salads
- Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for
cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment.
- Understands and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking
methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
- Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe
specifications.
- Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area, including tables, shelves, walls, grills,
broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range, and
refrigeration equipment.
- Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations.
- Assists others in closing the kitchen.
- Promptly reports equipment and food quality problems to the Kitchen Manager.
- Inform the Kitchen Manager immediately of product shortages.
- Uses our Standard Recipe Card for preparing all products.
