Coffee to Wake the Dead – Te Atatū South, Auckland is seeking experienced Cooks to join our team. We are looking for motivated and reliable individuals who are passionate about food preparation and maintaining high kitchen standards.

Position Details

  • Position: Cook

  • Employment Type: Full-time, permanent

  • Location: 104 McLeod Road, Te Atatū South, Auckland 0610

  • Hours: Minimum of 30 hours per week, up to 48 hours per week, rostered over 5–6 days per week

  • Pay Rate: $25.00 – $35.00 per hour depending on experience

  • Benefits: Holiday pay and sick leave in accordance with New Zealand employment legislation

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes in accordance with the café menu and quality standards.

  • Seasoning and cooking food during preparation to ensure flavour, texture, and presentation meet expectations.

  • Portioning food and plating dishes before serving.

  • Preparing ingredients such as washing, peeling, cutting, and marinating food items.

  • Assisting with menu planning and estimating food and ingredient requirements.

  • Monitoring food quality during preparation and cooking.

  • Storing food in temperature-controlled facilities and ensuring proper stock rotation.

  • Monitoring food stock levels and assisting with ordering kitchen supplies.

  • Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of kitchen and food preparation areas.

  • Ensuring compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety regulations.

  • Assisting in training or supervising kitchen assistants where required.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience as a Cook, OR

  • A relevant NZQF Level 4 qualification (e.g., New Zealand Certificate in Cookery Level 4 or equivalent).

A Food Safety or Food Hygiene Certificate is preferred.
