SHENG JI CUISINE LIMITED is a popular Hong Kong–style café and Chinese eatery located in the heart of Henderson. Our menu features a wide range of customer favourites, including baked rice and pasta dishes, signature XO fried rice and noodles, satay noodle soups, Hong Kong–style snacks, and classic milk tea beverages.

We pride ourselves on delivering fast, flavourful, and consistently high‑quality meals to our local community. As our business continues to grow, we are seeking three skilled and reliable Cooks to join our busy kitchen team.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and present a variety of Chinese and Hong Kong–style dishes, including:

    • Baked rice and pasta (e.g., Portuguese sauce, XO seafood)

    • Fried rice and fried noodles

    • Satay noodle soups and beef brisket noodles

    • Café‑style snacks such as chicken wings, French toast, and buns

  • Follow established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards

  • Assist with daily kitchen operations, including ingredient preparation, stock rotation, and maintaining workflow efficiency

  • Ensure all dishes meet our standards for taste, quality, and consistency

  • Maintain strict food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness in accordance with the NZ Food Control Plan

  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance issues

  • Work efficiently during peak service periods and support the wider kitchen team

 

Skills and Experience Required

Applicants must meet one of the following minimum requirements:

  • At least one year of relevant cooking experience

  • Any Level 4  qualification or higher (or overseas equivalent)

Additional skills:

  • Experience preparing Chinese or Hong Kong–style cuisine is an advantage

  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced kitchen

  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team

  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to high‑quality food preparation

 

Pay & Conditions

  • Pay rate: $26.00 – $28.00 per hour, depending on experience

  • Minimum 30 hours per week

  • Rostered shifts, including weekends and public holidays
