Red Mark 2 Limited, a dynamic tavern operation based in Otahuhu, Auckland, is seeking a skilled Chef to join its team. The role requires candidates who can thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment, ensure consistent food quality, adhere to established kitchen procedures, and contribute professionally to the smooth and efficient running of the tavern’s kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with management to plan and update menus, focusing on bar snacks, share plates, and seasonal specials that complement the tavern’s drinks offerings.
  • Prepare, cook, and present food consistently, maintaining high standards of taste, quality, and appearance.
  • Supervise kitchen operations to ensure all dishes are delivered efficiently and meet the tavern’s quality standards.
  • Monitor stock levels, manage inventory, and reduce wastage to control food costs.
  • Ensure portion control and presentation standards suitable for a casual, social dining environment.
  • Allocate tasks and guide kitchen staff to maintain smooth and efficient service, especially during busy periods.
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and according to hygiene standards.
  • Follow proper food storage, handling, and rotation practices to comply with food safety regulations.
  • Communicate with management promptly to address any kitchen or food preparation issues. 

Required to work for a minimum of 30 hours per week and will be paid between $27 to$32 per hour. 

Other requirements for the role:

  • At least one year of relevant work experience or a relevant Level 4 or above qualification.
  • Available to work weekends and late evening shifts.
  • Physically able to stand for long periods.
  • Works well as part of a team and communicates clearly with others.
  • Well organised with good coordination skills.
  • Pays attention to detail and maintains quality standards.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
