Chefs - specialised in Vietnamese cuisine
We are seeking two passionate Chefs specialising in authentic Vietnamese cuisine to join our team. The successful candidates will prepare and cook traditional Vietnamese dishes, with a focus on noodle soups, braised dishes, and salads, using traditional Vietnamese spices, herbs, and specialty ingredients to ensure authentic flavours, while overseeing kitchen operations to maintain quality and efficiency.

Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: At least 30 hours per week
Applicants must be flexible to work various shifts from Monday to Sunday, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Wage: Negotiable, from $30 to $34 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook a wide range of authentic Vietnamese dishes, preserving traditional techniques and flavours, with a strong focus on developing rich broths for noodle soups such as "phở" and slow-braised beef noodles (e.g. Bún bò huế, bò kho, etc..), as well as Vietnamese-style salads, spring rolls, and traditional desserts.
- Ensure food is prepared as per customer orders and delivered in a timely manner.
- Ensure all dishes meet high standards of quality, presentation, and authentic flavour before serving.
- Manage cooking processes for multiple dishes simultaneously, ensuring consistent quality and presentation.
- Delegate tasks to kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow and efficient kitchen operations.
- Responsible for compliance with food control plan including food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness.
- Manage staffing requirements including training and recruitment needs.
- Ensure food costs are in line with the kitchen budget.
- Maintain accurate stock records and ensure timely and efficient ordering of stock.
- Plan menu and develop new dishes.
- Experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients.
Required skills / knowledge / experience / qualification:
- Strong knowledge of Vietnamese cuisine is essential.
- Excellent time management ability.
- Have Either:
- A minimum two years’ relevant experience in a professional, fast-paced kitchen environment; or
- A Relevant NZQF Diploma in Cookery
