Indian Chef – Full Time
 
Location: North Shore, Auckland
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Guaranteed minimum 30 hours per week (rostered shifts including weekends and public holidays)
Pay Rate: $28 – $35.00 per hour (depending on experience)
 
About the Role:
 
Our Restaurant is seeking a skilled and experienced Indian Chef to join our team. This role is critical to maintaining the authenticity and quality of our Indian cuisine offerings. 
 
Key Responsibilities 
• Planning menus and estimating food and labour costs in consultation with management
• Preparing and cooking authentic Indian dishes including curries, tandoori items and breads
• Seasoning food during cooking to achieve authentic taste and presentation
• Monitoring quality at all stages of preparation and cooking
• Demonstrating cooking techniques and advising kitchen staff
• Supervising and coordinating activities of kitchen staff where required
• Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations
• Managing stock levels, ordering supplies, and minimising wastage
• Checking freshness and quality of ingredients
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment
• Assisting in developing new menu items and improving existing dishes
 
 
Minimum Requirements:
• NZQF Level 4 qualification in Cookery OR
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience 
• Knowledge of tandoor cooking and Indian spices
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
