We are seeking a talented Sous Chef to compliment the kitchen team. The candidate must be “hands on” with strong focus on training and creating an experience in a breakfast and lunch, setting that has an unforgettable memory. Candidate has to possess strong leadership and mentoring skills. An experienced Sous Chef, with strong restaurant background in a Luxury Hotel or High-End Restaurants would be ideal.

The Park Hyatt Café restaurant offers an Aotearoa approach to Fresh Produce, but with Asian Inspired flavors.; hence the ideal Sous Chef will have some expansive knowledge of Café style food and committed to the local culinary community.

The Role:

  • To assist the Executive Chef in ensuring that all culinary standards in that section comply with company and Hotel Policies and Procedures and Minimum Standards.
  • Work with Executive Chef to create new menus
  • Ability to work morning shifts - Pantry hours 7am till 3pm
  • To ensure that all dishes are prepared consistently and according to the standard recipe.
  • To work united as a team

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • New methods of food production and concepts
  • Comprehensive knowledge of kitchen hygiene practices and workplace health and safety standards
  • The ability to problem-solve, delegate and prioritize with a strong eye for detail
  • Able to interact with guests providing an exceptional experience
  • Work experience in a hotel or large restaurant with good standards; preferably with experience in luxury international brands
  • NZ residency or working rights
