Southern Fuegos is a premium catering company bringing the authentic tradition of the South American Asado to New Zealand. We specialise in open-fire cooking, traditional parrillas (grills), and high-end event catering across the Otago region. We are looking for passionate Chefs to join our growing team
Key Tasks
As a Chef, you will be responsible for the end-to-end culinary process, from conceptualisation to plate. Your duties will include:

Menu Creation & Development: Designing innovative menus that blend traditional Argentine open-fire techniques with seasonal New Zealand produce.

Financial Management & Budgeting: Estimating food costs, managing kitchen budgets, and implementing portion control to ensure departmental profitability.

Open-Fire Technical Mastery: Operating and maintaining traditional grills, wood-fire pits, and smokers to high professional standards.

Kitchen Operations: Planning and directing food preparation and cooking activities across various mobile event locations.

Procurement: Negotiating with local suppliers and managing inventory to ensure the highest quality ingredients are sourced within budget.

Compliance & Leadership: Ensuring strict adherence to Food Safety/HACCP standards and supervising junior kitchen staff or contractors during events.
Key Terms & Conditions

Rate of Pay: $30 – $31 per hour (commensurate with experience).

Guaranteed Hours: Minimum of 30 hours per week. Permanent full-time employment.

Location: Based in Queenstown, Otago. This is a mobile catering role requiring travel to various event sites throughout the Otago region.
Candidate Requirements

Qualifications: A relevant NZQF Level 4 Cookery qualification (or equivalent overseas qualification)

Experience: At least 2 years of relevant work experience
