We are a new restaurant opening soon in Queenstown CBD, specialising in freshly prepared, made-to-order dishes. We are looking for a reliable and skilled Cook to join our kitchen team.

Job Description

As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes using fresh ingredients in a commercial kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and cooking a range of ingredients including meats, seafood, vegetables and noodles
  • Preparing soups, broths and sauces from base ingredients
  • Controlling cooking processes including boiling, blanching and stir-frying
  • Monitoring food quality, taste and presentation
  • Ensuring correct portioning and plating of dishes
  • Operating and maintaining kitchen equipment safely
  • Storing food safely and monitoring temperature control
  • Maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen environment
  • Assisting with stock preparation and kitchen organisation

Job Details

  • Location: Queenstown, New Zealand
  • Position Type: Full-time, permanent
  • Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week
  • Expected Attendance: Rostered shifts, 5 days per week between Monday to Sunday, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
  • Pay Rate: $27.00 – $30.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Requirements

  • At least 2 years relevant experience as a Cook, OR
    a relevant qualification (NZQF Level 4 or equivalent)
  • Ability to prepare and cook dishes independently
  • Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and temperature control
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen
