We are an established Chinese restaurant located in Albany, Auckland, and we are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Chef to join our team.

 

This is a full-time permanent position with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week. The hourly rate ranges from $30.00 to $35.00, depending on experience and skills.

 

Job Duties:

 

· Independently manage the day-to-day operations of the kitchen

· Prepare and cook a range of Chinese dishes in line with restaurant standards

· Plan and develop menus, including pricing and food cost control

· Ensure consistency in food quality, presentation, and portion control

· Monitor stock levels, order ingredients, and manage kitchen supplies

· Ensure all food is stored, handled, and prepared in accordance with New Zealand food safety and hygiene regulations

· Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment at all times

· Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service

· Train and guide junior or part-time kitchen staff if required

 

Requirements:

· At least 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in Chinese cuisine

· Ability to independently run a kitchen and manage multiple tasks

· Strong knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques and food preparation

· Good organisational and time management skills

· Reliable, hardworking, and able to work under pressure

· Willingness to work weekends and public holidays (rostered between Monday and Sunday)
