We’re a Halal restaurant located in Christchurch, known for our Vietnamese and Asian dishes. We’re currently on the lookout for 2 experienced Cooks to join our busy kitchen.

 

What you will do:

-   Prepare high quality dishes as per orders.

-   Ensure dishes are prepared in accordance with traditional methods and requirements.

-   Determine portions of ingredients and dishes, preparing and assembling ingredients for menu items.

-   Cook various Halal Asian/Vietnamese dishes according to the menu.

-   Ensure food presentation meets restaurant standards.

-   Store excess food at the correct temperature in order to avoid spoilage.

-   Monitor supplies and re-ordering stock as instructed.

-   Efficiently resolving problems with customers’ orders.

-   Clean and set up kitchen in the morning/night shift.

-   Manage hygiene and safety standards in accordance with New Zealand health and safety requirement.

-   Ensures all food preparation aligns meticulously with halal standards, including receiving, storing, and preparing only halal-certified ingredients.

 

 

Requirements:

-   At least 2 year experience in busy restaurant and kitchen or Level 4 Qualification in Cookery

-   Familiar with authentic Vietnamese and Asian cuisine and cooking method is preferable

-   Specific experience in a halal kitchen or strong understanding of halal requirement is preferred

-   Excellent time management, great teamwork skills in busy days and events

-   Ability to stay calm and efficient in a fast-paced environment.

-   Excellent personal hygiene and grooming.

-   Honest and reliable

-   Positive attitude, punctuality, and a genuine passion for food.

-   Must be able to work on weekend and evening shifts

We offer $25 to $30 per hour depending on your experience, 30 to 40 hours a week
