Role overview
Are you passionate about food and excited to lead a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment? NS Group Limited is hiring chefs to join our team. This role involves performing routine tasks to ensure the kitchen operates efficiently. You will be responsible for following all established procedures and maintaining consistency in kitchen management. This is a full-time role with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours of work per week.
Purpose of the role
As our Chef, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality dining experiences while ensuring smooth kitchen operations.
Key duties

Consistently deliver high standards of products in the kitchen.

Monitor and adhere to hygiene regulations and standards.

Food preparation and cooking.

Ensure presentation of all menu items to correct specifications and correct portion sizes.

Ensure the correct procedures and methods for all recipes are followed.

Correctly manage prep lists daily.

Correctly manage the ordering process daily and liaise with suppliers when needed.

Manage deliveries and invoices of goods being delivered.

Assist with the introduction of new menus.

Monitor the speed at which products reach guests.

Act as point of contact for kitchen issues addressed by the manager.

Ensure all staff are well presented and adhere to uniform guidelines.

Report complaints, accidents and incidents immediately and document these on the appropriate form.

Complete any other tasks as reasonably required.

Comply with all aspects of any contract, project or task and deliver customer services that meet or exceed the expectations of the customer or business.
Health and safety responsibilities

Ensure all policies, procedures, regulatory requirements and company rules are applied at all times.

Ensure work is carried out in accordance with all required legal requirements, industry standards, company instructions and accreditation requirements.

Monitor and take action to ensure the safety of staff, customers, contractors, suppliers, the general public and the environment.

Report all incidents, including injuries, damage and complaints, before the end of the shift, with serious incidents reported immediately.

Suggest effective preventive actions, identify hazards, and actively assist in determining controls.

Assist staff and customers by ensuring that no unsafe situation or unsafe behaviour occurs.

Ensure all actions contribute towards the company goal of a zero-harm work environment.

Ensure full understanding of all safety policies and the employee’s own role within these, including incident reporting requirements.
Other specifications / candidate requirements

The successful candidate must hold 3 years of work experience OR a minimum Level 4 or above qualification.

Ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team.

Willingness to undergo pre-employment drug screening.

Calm and professional temperament with good communication skills.

Strong work ethic.
