We are seeking skilled and reliable Jr. Chef to join our team in Auckland. This role involves preparing, cooking, and presenting a variety of dishes, with a strong emphasis on Italian food, while maintaining high standards of quality and consistency.
This is a full-time, permanent position with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week. Additional hours may be available depending on business requirements. The hourly pay rate ranges from $26.00 to $28.00, based on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, season, and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with standard recipes and business requirements
- Prepare and cook sauces, gravies, and accompaniments using a range of cooking techniques
- Ensure consistency in taste, quality, portion size, and presentation of all dishes
- Monitor cooking processes and adjust temperature, seasoning, and methods as required
- Prepare and portion ingredients, including vegetables, meats, and other food items
- Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen in compliance with food safety standards
- Assist with stock control, including monitoring inventory levels and minimising waste
- Work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Skills and Experience Required
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience in a commercial kitchen
- Experience preparing Italian food would be preferred
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
