Jellicoe Street Bar & Eatery (Creative Hospitality Group Limited) is seeking an experienced Head Chef to join our dynamic culinary team at our Bar & Eatery in Te Puke, Bay of Plenty. This is a permanenet/full time role (32+ hours), offering the opportunity to work alongside our enthusiastic Team in delivering exceptional dining experiences for our customers.
This will be a full-time Head Chef position located in Te Puke. A minimum of 32 hours per week will be gauranteed. Business currently operates 6 days a week but may progress to trading 7 days a week and you can be rostered on any day/s time/s during the week. Depending on the level of your skills, rate of pay will vary between $35-$38 per hour.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Develop and maintain the menu and recipes for Jellicoe Street Bar & Eatery. Oversee and direct all aspects of the kitchen operation.
Ensure that the quality of all food presented to customers meets Jellicoe Street Bar and Eatery’s standards – providing maximum quality whilst containing labour and food costs.
Supervise and manage all kitchen Employees.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Overall responsibility for the operation and organisation of all kitchen and food preparation areas at Jellicoe Street Eatery.
- Set and manage kitchen budgets
- Plan and produce food menus to Jellicoe Street Bar & Eatery’s requirements.
- Ordering food supplies
- Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
- Spot check dishes as they leave the kitchen for quality, presentation and temperature.
- Manage all kitchen staff – impart knowledge, skills and training to all kitchen staff of cooking procedures and hygiene regulations.
- Set policies and maintain standards for food safety in all food preparation areas.
- Set policies and maintain standards for health & safety at work in all food preparation areas.
- May assist restaurant Manager in interviews and the recruitment of kitchen staff.
Skills/Experience Required
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience or a relevant NZ register diploma
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays/public holidays
- Solid organisational skills and good speed of work
- Passion for good food
- Great communication skills
