We are a busy restaurant in Nelson and are looking for 2-3 Chef de Partie's in a full time permanent role to join our team. This role offers $25-$35 per hour and the hours are minimum 30 hours per week to maximum 40 hours per week.
*Operate and manage an assigned kitchen section such as grill, fryer, prep, or pass.
* Prepare and cook menu items according to Lone Star recipes and presentation standards.
* Maintain high standards of food quality, portion control, and consistency.
* Ensure all meals are delivered in a timely manner during busy service periods.
* Assist with daily food preparation and stock rotation.
* Monitor stock levels and communicate shortages to senior chefs.
* Maintain a clean and organised workstation at all times.
* Follow all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures.
* Minimise wastage and support kitchen cost control targets.
* Assist with training and supporting junior kitchen staff when required.
* Work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to ensure smooth service operations.
Skills & Experience
* Previous relevant experience of three years or more in a busy commercial kitchen preferred or a Diploma in Cookery or Hospitality Management.
* Happy to train right person if you have experience as Commis chef
* Grill and high-volume service experience advantageous
* Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
* Strong teamwork and communication skills
* Reliable, punctual, and professionally presented
* Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
* Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
