Pedro’s House of Lamb is looking for a full-time permanent Cook to join our busy team based in Queenstown.
Pedro’s House of Lamb is an iconic Queenstown food business specialising in premium slow-cooked meat dishes. We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Cook to support our kitchen operations and help deliver high-quality food to our customers both in-store and at events.
You must be organised, able to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment, and capable of maintaining high food preparation and hygiene standards.
Key Terms and Conditions of Employment
• Rate: NZD $30 per hour
• Minimum of 30 hours per week guaranteed
• Permanent full-time position
• Typically rostered across 4 working days per week
• Rostered shifts may include weekends, evenings, and public holidays
• Hours of work generally between 10:00am and 11:00pm depending on business needs and events
• Location of work: Queenstown, including occasional attendance at markets, catering events, and offsite food events in the Otago Region
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Prepare and cook meat dishes and other menu items to a high standard
• Assist with meat preparation, trimming, marinating, seasoning, and portioning
• Assist with setup, food preparation, cooking, and service at offsite events and markets
• Monitor food quality during preparation and service
• Ensure all food preparation areas are clean and comply with food safety standards
• Maintain stock rotation and assist with stock control
• Assist with receiving deliveries and storing products correctly
• Work efficiently as part of the kitchen team during busy service periods
• Follow health and food safety procedures at all times
• Assist with general kitchen cleaning and maintenance duties
• Communicate effectively with managers and team members
Minimum Requirements
• At least 2 years relevant experience
OR
• A relevant Level 4 or higher cookery or hospitality qualification

• Experience working with meat preparation or BBQ/slow-cooked products
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Reliable and punctual
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Flexible and willing to work rostered shifts and attend events when required
