We are a Chinese restaurant seeking professional Chinese Chef to join our team.

Location: Auckland, New Zealand
Hours per week: Minimum 30 hours
Employment type: Full-time, permanent
Hourly rate: $25-$28 per hour depending on your experience

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering ingredients and kitchen supplies for daily restaurant operations;
  • monitoring the quality of dishes throughout preparation and presentation to ensure consistency and customer satisfaction;
  • discussing food preparation and service arrangements with Managers and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation during service periods;
  • demonstrating Chinese cooking techniques and advising kitchen staff on food preparation procedures;
  • preparing, seasoning and cooking a variety of Chinese dishes, including stir-fries, soups and specialty meals;
  • explaining and enforcing food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness standards;
  • assisting with the training and supervision of kitchen staff where required;
  • storing, freezing and preserving food ingredients in accordance with restaurant procedures and food safety requirements.

 

Requirements:

  • At least two years relevant work experience in Chinese style cooking
  • Strong knowledge of Chinese cooking methods and ingredients
  • Ability to manage kitchen operations efficiently
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Flexible with working hours, including weekends and evenings
