We are looking for Chef to be a part of our team at J & S Sushi Ltd, Rotorua.

Type of employment :Full-time, Permanent

Location: Rotorua, Bay of Plenty

Hourly wages:$27.00 to $33.00

Minimum hours:30 hours/week Guaranted

Key Responsiblities 

Make and cook a range of Japanese foods, such as sushi, sashimi, rice bowls and Japanese dishes, using a range of recipes or developing their own.

Design and develop menus based on customer preferences, seasonal availability and needs.

Make sure that all food is prepared, presented and served in the same amount to be of good quality and taste.

Planning and ordering food supplies and ingredients; and effectively managing stock to reduce waste and keep food costs to a minimum.

Ensure food safety, hygiene and health regulations are met and kitchen is clean and organised.

Track and adjust food cost and/or food item inventory and/or food items to be profitable. 

Discuss food preparation with the manager and other cooks and prepare food.

Cook food to the guests orders and ensure customers satisfaction.

Freeze and preserve foods.

Essential Requirements:

2-3 years experience working in a sushi Restaurant, Japanese restaurant or other similar environment. 

Cuisine Specialisation: Experience in Japanese cuisine is necessary, especially in the preparation of Sushi.

Food Safety: Knowledge of basic food safety and hygiene.

Work Environment: able to handle pressure in well fast paced kitchen

You must be available to work on weekends and Public Holidays 

Should be Reliable, Honest and Hard Working
