Ramen Tekapo is looking for a reliable and motivated Cook to join our busy kitchen team in Lake Tekapo.

We are fast-paced, double storey restaurant serving Japanese and Thai inspired dishes. We are seeking experienced personnel who is passionate about food quality, kitchen organisation and delivering consistent good quality meals to customers.

 

In this role you will be required to:

·         Prepare and cook a range of Japanese and Thai meals

·         Ensure food quality, presentation, and consistency are maintained

·         Monitor cooking times and temperatures of kitchen equipment

·         Assist with menu planning and seasonal menu updates

·         Manage food preparation and portion control

·         Support stock control and inventory management

·         Store food safely and follow food hygiene procedures

·         Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment

·         Assist with preparing meals for customers with dietary requirements (vegan, gluten free)

·         Work closely with other kitchen staff and help train junior team members when required

 

What we are looking for:

·         At least 3 years relevant cooking experience in a food and beverage environment

·         Trade certificate or higher qualification can be substitutable in absence of work experience

·         Knowledge of Japanese or thai cuisine will be advantageous

·         Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods

·         Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene practices

·         Positive attitude and good team player

 

More information on the role:

  • Minimum 30 hours per week
  • Pay rate: NZD $25 – $30 per hour (depending on experience)
  • Permanent full-time role
  • Weekend and evening shifts required
