Ekaner NZ Limited is looking for a motivated and skilled Chef to join its team in Auckland. The role involves assisting in daily kitchen operations, preparing high-quality dishes, and supporting the team to maintain excellent food standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and plan menus in consultation with management, considering customer preferences, seasonal ingredient availability, and cost efficiency to ensure a well-balanced and attractive menu offering.
  • Prepare and present high-quality dishes across a variety of menu items, ensuring consistency, taste, and presentation standards are maintained, across our Sri Lankan and Western cuisine styles as required.
  • Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations to ensure smooth workflow and efficient service delivery.
  • Assign tasks to kitchen staff and provide appropriate training, supervision, and support as needed.
  • Collaborate with management to identify, address, and resolve operational or food preparation issues.
  • Monitor and adjust cooking equipment to ensure proper performance and optimal cooking results.
  • Maintain proper food storage, handling, and rotation practices to ensure freshness, safety, and quality.
  • Ensure kitchen cleanliness and hygiene standards are consistently maintained in line with health and safety regulations.
  • Adhere to established menus, preparation methods, and operational procedures at all times.
  • Carry out additional duties as required to support overall business operations and objectives.

Required to work for a minimum of 30 hours per week and will be paid between $30-$35 per hour.

Other Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience or at least a relevant Level 4 qualification.
  • Available to work weekends and early shifts.
  • Physically able to stand and work for extended periods.
  • Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively with colleagues.
  • Good coordination and attention to detail.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
