Kebabistan Limited is a well-established and growing hospitality business specialising in authentic kebabs, grilled meats, Middle Eastern cuisine, and catering services across Auckland. We are seeking an experienced and creative Chef to join our team and play a key role in maintaining exceptional food quality while continuously developing new and innovative menu offerings.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Planning, designing, and updating menus to ensure the business offers a diverse and innovative range of food products.

Researching food trends and customer preferences and developing new menu items on a regular basis.

Creating, testing, and introducing new recipes, marinades, sauces, kebab varieties, side dishes, desserts, and specialty menu offerings.

Reviewing the performance of existing menu items and recommending additions, modifications, or seasonal changes to improve customer satisfaction and profitability.

Estimating food and labour costs and assisting management with menu pricing and profitability analysis.

Preparing, seasoning, and cooking a variety of kebabs, grilled meats, rice dishes, wraps, breads, salads, sauces, desserts, and other menu items.

Ensuring consistency in food quality, taste, presentation, and portion control.

Supervising and coordinating kitchen operations to ensure efficient service delivery.

Training, mentoring, and supervising cooks, kitchen assistants, and other kitchen staff.

Monitoring food quality at all stages of preparation, cooking, and presentation.

Managing stock levels, ordering supplies, and liaising with suppliers to ensure adequate inventory.

Inspecting food supplies, ingredients, and kitchen equipment to maintain quality standards.

Ensuring strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, occupational health and safety, and licensing requirements.

Minimising food wastage and implementing effective cost-control measures.

Assisting with the preparation of menus for catering functions, special events, and promotional campaigns.

Collaborating with management to improve menu offerings, kitchen productivity, and customer satisfaction.

Maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment.
Skills and Experience Required
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

At least 2-3 years of relevant experience working as a Chef; OR
-
A Level 4 or higher qualification in Cookery, Culinary Arts, or a related field.
In addition, applicants should have:

Strong knowledge of food preparation, menu planning, and kitchen management.

Experience in recipe development and menu innovation.

Excellent organisational and time management skills.

Strong leadership and communication abilities.

The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, public holidays, and late-night shifts as required.
