Position Purpose
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Chef to join our team in a full-time permanent position. The successful applicant will play an important role in food preparation planning, kitchen coordination, menu implementation, and supporting the ongoing development of kitchen operations and food service systems.

The role requires the ability to manage kitchen workflow efficiently, maintain food quality standards, assist with menu planning and operational development, and contribute to the smooth operation of a busy commercial kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Planning, organising, and overseeing daily food preparation and kitchen workflow to maintain efficient service and consistent food quality

• Participating in the development, adaptation, and planning of menu items and preparation procedures based on operational requirements and customer demand

• Coordinating kitchen operations, cooking procedures, and preparation systems for existing and newly introduced menu categories

• Preparing and cooking food to established quality, presentation, and consistency standards

• Monitoring food quality, portion control, presentation standards, and preparation consistency across all menu items

• Assisting with ingredient planning, stock ordering, stock rotation, and coordination of kitchen supply requirements

• Managing food cost awareness and minimising food waste through efficient kitchen operations

• Assisting with kitchen supervision, staff coordination, and maintaining effective workflow during busy service periods

• Ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and safe food handling procedures

• Supporting the operational setup, organisation, and ongoing development of kitchen and food service operations

Skills and Experience Required
• Minimum 2 years relevant experience as a Chef OR a relevant Level 4 qualification

• Experience working in a commercial kitchen environment

• Strong organisational and time management skills

• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy kitchen setting

• Good communication and teamwork abilities

Employment Conditions
• Full-time permanent position

• Guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week

• Additional hours may be available depending on operational requirements

• Hourly rate between NZD $35 – $37 depending on skills and experience

• Work will be performed at 100 Bridge Street, Bulls 4818, New Zealand
