We are seeking an experienced Cook to join our dedicated team.

This is a full-time, permanent role with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week with remuneration between $25-$30 per hour for the right candidate

What you’ll do (Key responsibilities)

  • Prepare and cook sandwich fillings, salads, sides, and hot items to menu specifications.

  • Assemble sandwiches and hot meals quickly and consistently while maintaining presentation standards.

  • Follow recipes, portion control and food safety procedures (Hygiene and temperature control).

  • Receive and store deliveries, rotate stock, and maintain accurate ingredient inventory.

  • Keep the kitchen and food prep areas clean, organised and compliant with health and safety regulations.

  • Work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining quality and speed.

  • Assist with menu suggestions, daily specials and minor prep tasks as required.

  • Support front-of-house team when needed and maintain friendly customer interactions.

What we need (Essential qualifications & experience)

  • NZ Register Level 1 qualification, OR

  • Completion of compulsory secondary education, OR

  • Brief on-the-job training / relevant work experience in a commercial kitchen or café environment.

  • Basic knowledge of food safety and safe food handling practices (or willingness to obtain).

  • Ability to work at pace during peak service times.

  • Good communication skills, reliability and a positive, customer-focused attitude.

  • Right to work in New Zealand.

Desirable (not essential)

  • Previous experience in sandwich preparation, deli, café, or fast-casual kitchen.

  • Food safety certificate (e.g., NZ Food Safety Level 1 or equivalent).

  • Barista skills or light front-of-house experience.
