About Us

The Burger Spot is a fast-growing burger restaurant committed to serving high-quality gourmet burgers, fried chicken, loaded fries, sides, and beverages. We are seeking a motivated and passionate Chef to join our kitchen team and help maintain our high food quality standards while contributing to menu innovation and kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and update menus in consultation with management.
  • Design and standardise recipes to ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control.
  • Prepare and cook burgers, chicken products, loaded fries, sides, and other menu items to a high standard.
  • Monitor food quality throughout preparation and service.
  • Estimate food requirements and food costs and assist with pricing menu items.
  • Order and manage stock levels, ensuring adequate supplies are maintained.
  • Inspect food ingredients and finished dishes to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and health and safety regulations.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff, including cooks and kitchen assistants.
  • Organise kitchen workflow and coordinate food preparation during busy service periods.
  • Minimise food wastage and implement cost-control measures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen equipment, storage areas, and workstations.
  • Assist management with introducing new menu items and seasonal promotions.

Skills and Requirements

  • NZQF Level 4 qualification (or higher) in Cookery, Culinary Arts, Commercial Cookery, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and commercial kitchen operations.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to food safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn.
