Head chef 

Sunway Food Ltd is looking to employ one head chef for our restaurant in Whangarei. The head chef we are looking for will work 40 hours per week and be paid $35 per hour. You will be expected to work in a busy environment but have to be presentable, reliable and able to deliver under pressure whiles maintain the highest standards of quality and presentation. The main tasks are as follows:

 

  1. Planning and designing menus for the restaurant and adapting menus based on customer feedback
  2. Estimating food and labor costs to maintain profit margin
  3. Checking and controlling food stock to ensure all ingredients are fresh and meet quality standards and to minimize waste and spoilage
  4. Liaising with suppliers to order food supplies
  5. Directing kitchen operations and managing kitchen staff to ensure operations run smoothly
  6. Overseeing food preparation, cooking, presentation and cleaning processes
  7. Cooking the dishes with the techniques and procedures specified and demonstrating techniques to advise the other chefs and cooks on cooking skills and procedures of the dishes when necessary
  8. Delegating tasks and resolving issues as they arise with manager and other staff
  9. Ensuring compliance with hygiene and health and safety regulations
  10. Recruiting, training, and developing kitchen personnel of all levels.
