You will be responsible for supervision of kitchen staff and the preparation and cooking of

menu items while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and service.

Location: The Ottoman, 5 Cass Street, Ashburton 7700

Hours: minimum 30 hours guaranteed, up to 45 hours per week | Monday to Sunday

(rostered)

Pay rate: $30 - $35 (depending on experience)

Minimum qualifications/experience: At least 3 years of relevant work experience OR at

least level 4 Diploma in Cooking or equivalent

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 Plan menus and design seasonal dishes in line with customer preferences/dietary

requirements

 Estimate food and labour costs and manage ordering of food supplies

 Prepare and cook high-quality dishes consistently

 Monitor quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation

 Liaise with Managers, Dietitians, and front-of-house staff regarding food

preparation matters

 Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff and workflow

 Demonstrate cooking techniques and guide junior kitchen staff

 Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and health regulations

 Liaise with management regarding kitchen operations and improvements

 Maintain stock control and minimise wastage

 Participate in the recruitment and training of staff when required

 Implement appropriate methods for freezing and preserving food Any other lawful requests

 Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment

 Ability to work weekends and public holidays

 Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods

 Ability to work well as part of a team
