Vani's Kitchen is seeking a skilled Indian Chef to join our kitchen team. You'll work alongside our head chef to deliver authentic Hyderabadi cuisine to a fine dining standard. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Indian cooking techniques, a passion for quality, and the ability to thrive in a high-volume kitchen. Experience with biryani and South Indian cuisine highly regarded.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Preparing and cooking authentic Indian dishes to consistent quality standards
  • Specialising in Hyderabadi dum biryani and related dishes
  • Supporting the head chef in menu execution and kitchen operations
  • Managing mise en place and food preparation efficiently
  • Maintaining food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards
  • Assisting with stock management, ordering, and minimising wastage
  • Training and guiding junior kitchen staff as needed
  • Adapting to catering events and high-volume service periods

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience cooking Indian cuisine professionally
  • Hands-on knowledge of Hyderabadi or South Indian cooking techniques preferred
  • Valid working rights in New Zealand
  • Own reliable transportation
