Job Description:

AD Hospitality Limited trading asĀ Novelty Sweets & Restaurant is seeking 3 experienced Chefs to join our busy kitchen team. The restaurant is a pure vegetarian food business offering a diverse menu including Indian sweets, snacks, and a variety of vegetarian meals prepared fresh daily for dine-in and takeaway customers.

The successful candidates will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality vegetarian food while maintaining excellent hygiene, food safety, and kitchen efficiency standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and cooking a variety of pure vegetarian dishes, including Indian curries, tandoori-style vegetarian items, snacks, breads (naan/roti), and traditional sweets.
  • Preparing ingredients, sauces, spice blends, and food components according to recipes and standards.
  • Ensuring all food is cooked, seasoned, and presented consistently and to a high standard.
  • Operating kitchen equipment safely, including ovens, fryers, grills, and tandoor-style equipment where applicable.
  • Maintaining high standards of food quality, taste, texture, and presentation.
  • Monitoring food stock levels and ensuring proper storage and rotation of ingredients (FIFO method).
  • Checking freshness and quality of all ingredients before preparation and use.
  • Assisting with menu preparation and suggesting improvements or new vegetarian dishes when required.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of kitchen areas, utensils, and equipment in accordance with New Zealand food safety standards.
  • Following all workplace health and safety procedures and food hygiene regulations.
  • Ensuring timely preparation of food during busy service periods.
  • Assisting with stock control, ordering, and minimising food wastage.
  • Supporting senior chefs and kitchen management as required.
  • Training and assisting junior kitchen staff or kitchen hands when necessary.

Skills, Qualification & Experience:

  • Relevant cookery qualification (Level 4 or above) OR
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience as a Chef or Cook.
  • Experience in Indian vegetarian cuisine and high-volume takeaway kitchen operations preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen operations, and food safety standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy kitchen environment.
  • Team-oriented attitude with good communication skills.
